About us

Sivan is a sustainable tailoring studio, based in Brooklyn NY. Founded in 2020 by designer Jack Sivan, as a bespoke label, designing and creating tailored garments for our clientele.

In 2023, with the debut of its first NYFW collection, we took our first step towards our goal of developing a sustainable clothing line, inspired by traditional menswear and built for the modern world.

In 2025, after multiple collections, we expanded further into wholesale. Our first store partner is Ford general, in Chicago, which holds items from the Sivan line year round.

Sivan’s custom business remains core to our identity, personalized design, comfort, and functionality are pivotal to our approach to ready-to-wear design. We believe in creating garments designed to suit people, to elevate their daily lives.

What does "sustainability" mean to us

We see sustainability to be as central a consideration in design as is whether or not something fits. In our minds, sustainable design is synonymous with good design.

In a material sense it means that we are diligent about what materials are used. Working exclusively in natural fibers, avoiding all plastics and non-biodegradable synthetics, even when it comes to buttons and hardware, with exceptions made only for up-cycling or deadstock. We take care with the  quantity of materials used. Making sure our cutting processes are never needlessly wasteful, and that all material scraps created are either utilized or recycled responsibly.

Our design approach is focused on longevity: what will serve our clients the longest. This means avoiding brief trends and focusing on creating something classic, useful, durable, and of course, joyful.

Sustainability also means conservatism in our production. We aim to never overproduce, and to keep as much of our process as local as possible to eliminate the waste of constant shipping.

Where are we made?

All of Sivan’s garments are made locally in New York. Bespoke and ready-to-wear garments are designed and prototyped in our studio in Brooklyn. Larger scale garment production is made in our factory in Manhattan.

We are a proud New York label and believe it is vital that our designs be developed where they are to be worn. Manufacturing locally means supporting our community, but it also means reducing the emissions associated with shipping, and cutting down on the waste of over production. It means we can work small and focus on meeting a discerning clientele with each garment, rather than needing to make every look appeal to as many people as possible. And it means we can personally attest to both the quality of the garment, as well as the place in which it was made.

What does “menswear” mean to us?

At Sivan we view menswear as a set of design principles, rather than a market category.

Menswear and tailoring have a rich design and craft heritage which focuses on detail, function, and subtle elegance. We believe that menswear has often been held back and hung up on a need to conform to a given era’s strict sense of masculinity. In a more liberated world, a suit should fit whomever desires to wear it.

About the Designer

Jack Sivan is a sustainable menswear designer whose work is inspired by traditional tailoring. He is passionate about the craft of garment making, menswear and its expanding definition, and sustainable manufacturing, which he believes is inherent in good design.

Jack’s roots as a designer began with a childhood love of art. Growing up in Boston he had the freedom to pursue a variety of arts before finding fashion. Inspired by historic Saville Row and Neapolitan tailoring traditions, Jack fell in love with men’s suiting. As a teen he taught himself how to sew and created an upcycled bowtie company. He went on to receive a formal arts education at the Rhode Island School of Design and holds a BFA in Apparel Design and a minor in Sustainability Studies.

Jack’s career took him through a range of creative labels before began his own. His brand, Sivan, began with bespoke garments for a dedicated clientele. He is currently working to expand his brand’s scope, creating a ready-to-wear line centered around his twin passions, sustainability and tailoring. Jack is dedicated to making pieces that clients are excited to wear everyday and will stand firm to the test of time.

Jack lives in Brooklyn with his wife, guinea pigs, and a growing number of sewing machines.
